Algebra for All: Fostering Algebraic Reasoning - A Mathematics Institute for 6th through 10th Grade Educators
Course Overview and Objectives: What does it mean to say “Algebra for All”?
Is this really a possibility and can we achieve it in our classrooms? We will investigate deeply the Functions and Algebra strand of the Vermont Grade Expectations at our grade level and how the ge’s relate to those at other grade levels. We will share and create activities and materials that are useful in the presentation of algebraic concepts, investigate manipulatives and technology that promote algebraic understanding among our students, and strengthen and deepen our own understanding of algebra. Most of all we will investigate ways to make “Algebra for All” a reality for our students.
We encourage schools to send a team of teachers.
