- Brain Gym® 101 and Dominancy Profile Course      

Course Overview: 

A.  Brain Gym® is also known asEducational Kinesiology. The program uses 26 simple movements to enhance learning abilities in children and adults. It promotes integrated communication between the brain and the body, eliminates stress in learning, and increases creativity. The Brain Gym® movements are very easy to use and implement. They can be modified to the specific needs of every person of any age and ability level. This powerful program can bring profound and positive change. In this course you will learn:

  • 26 movements that stimulate the brain and body to peak performance in reading, writing, listening, communication, organization, and positive attitude;
  • 5 Principles of Movement-Based Learning: Draw Out model, Focus, Notice, Move to Learn, and Interconnect; 
  • 5 steps Brain Gym Action Balances which is the core of the course, including setting individualized goals;
  • Noticing skills to apply pre, during and post the balance process (metacognition);
  • The Dynamic Brain and the Triune Brain Theory;
  • The three dimensions of performance - Focus, Laterality, and Centering;
  • The Dennison Laterality Re-Patterning Process (DLR) and 3-D Repatterning , assisting in whole-brain integration to access and anchor new learning;
  • Stress-Based vs. Movement-Based Learning - identifying inhibiting stress factors and developing a plan to increase joy and creativity in everyday life activities;
  • To empower yourself and others to meet any new challenge with confidence.

 

B. The Dominancy Profile is an easy and quick assessment to administer. It provides immediate insight to the individual’s learning preferences. The information obtained is a very helpful way for any person who works in the teaching / therapeutic field in search for best working modalities. This portion of the course is based on the work developed by Dr. Carla Hannaford, Ph.D.

About the instructor:

Zohara Zarfati, M.Ed., is a National Board certified, Vermont-licensed Special Educator, and a licensed Brain Gym® instructor. Ms. Zarfati earned her undergraduate degree in Israel and her graduate degree in Special Education / Applied Psychology from U of T, Canada. She has 20 years experience supporting students with disabilities.
