The Woodruff Institute for School Leaders
The Woodruff Institute, a Castleton State College Program, will be beginning a new cohort group in June, 2008. Teachers interested in beginning the program earlier may be able to “jump-start” the program by taking selected courses in advance of their cohort. Candidates will be licensed as K-12 Principals or as K-12 Special Education Directors.
The program may be take as a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership (36 credits) or as a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study (39 credits). Special Education Directorship licensure requires three additional credits. The program is designed to be taken by students from any part of Vermont and Eastern New York State.
The Woodruff Institute focuses on six national standards that prepare school leaders to promote the success of all students in a school ordistrict. This preparation occurs both in the graduate classroom and in the school. Students focus their field work on a plan to improve the success of students in measurable ways. The program is designed for teachers who are ready to increase their impact beyond their classroom.
