Choosing Your Stafford Lender
All first time Federal Stafford Loan borrowers are required to select the lender they wish to use. All future Federal Stafford Loans will be processed through this lender unless you notify us in writing that you would like to change lenders. In order to notify Castleton State College of your lender of choice, please follow these directions:
- Log onto Portal/VSC Web Services from CSC’s main webpage.
- Once logged in, choose the VSC Web Services icon on the left of the page.
- Select the Student icon on the right of the page.
- Under the Financial Aid heading, select Choose Stafford Loan Lender.
- Select the award year and Castleton as the Financial Aid Office and click submit.
- Read through the information on the page, including information on our Suggested Lenders if you do not have a lender preference already.
- Complete the online Stafford Entrance Counseling by clicking the link (this will open as a second window).
- If choosing a lender from our Suggested Lender List, complete the Master Promissory Note for that lender by clicking the corresponding link (this will open as a second window).
- As your final step, click to highlight the lender you want or fill in the required lender information and click the submit button.
- If you make a mistake or want to change your lender of choice at any time, please notify the financial aid office in writing and we will make the necessary adjustments.
