All members of the Castleton community - students, alumni, parents, faculty, and staff are invited to spend an activity-packed weekend on campus celebrating the Spartan spirit. Make sure you stop by the Welcome Tent to pick up your free gift and an up-to-date schedule.

 

Friday, September 19

3:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. - Silent Auction to benefit the Travel Club. Campus Center Multipurpose Room.

4:00 p.m. - Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society Induction. Old Chapel, Great Hall

5:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. - Scholarship Awards Ceremony followed by Reception. Casella Theater and President’s Lawn (by invitation only)

8:00 p.m. - Theatre Arts Production: “Philadelphia, Here I Come!”  Casella Theater, Fine Arts  Center.  Special rate of $4 for alumni and parents, tickets required.  Call the box office at 802-468-1119.

10:30 p.m. - Late Night Live featuring musician/comic Evan Wecksell. Campus Center Fireside Café.


Saturday, September 20

9:00 a.m. - Reception for past Alumni Board Members. Alumni Room, Huden Dining Hall.

9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p. m. - Discounted ski and snowboard sale to benefit the Castleton Ski Team. Location TBA. New equipment at below wholesale prices. FREE bindings, boots and poles with select ski package purchases.

9:00 a.m. -  5:00 p.m.  - Silent Auction to benefit the Travel Club. Campus Center Multipurpose Room. Last bid is 4:30 p.m. to pick up by 5 p.m.

9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.  - Coffee for sale to benefit the Travel Club.Grab a cup o’ joe! Campus center Multipurpose Room.

9:00 a.m. -  5:00 p.m. - Exhibit: Paintings and Installations by Tom McGlynn. Christine Price Gallery, Fine Arts Center.

9:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. - College Store open. Campus Center.

9:30 a. m. - 6:00 p.m. - Welcome Tent (Campus Center south lawn) Get your updated schedule. Pick up your lunch and boat ride tickets and your FREE GIFT! Campus tours available upon request.

9:30 a.m. - 2:15 p.m. - Cow Plop Bingo.  Guess where the cow will plop!  $5 per chance, winner gets $100.  Proceeds benefit the Student Emergency Loan Fund.  Cow “plops” at 2:30 p.m. on Wheeler Lawn. Tickets available at Welcome Tent.

9:30 a.m. - Outing Club hike to Deer Leap. Meet at the Welcome Tent.

9:45 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.  - Guided Nature Walk and Garden Tour led by members of the Castleton Sustainability Club. Meet at the Welcome Tent.

10:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.  - Athletic Hall of Fame Brunch and Induction Ceremony. President’s Lawn. Reservations required.

10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. - FREE massages with massage therapists Heather Reed and Candy Jones.  Campus Center. Sign up at Welcome Desk in Campus Center.

10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. - Calvin Coolidge Library open.

10:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.  - Behind the Scenes tour. Departs from Welcome Tent

10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. - Boat tour of beautiful Lake Bomoseen.  Advance reservations required.  Please pick up your tickets and driving directions at the Welcome Tent. Please plan to be at the Marina at 10:15 a.m.

11:00 a.m. -  2:00 p.m. - Campus Carnival.  Games, carnival booths, kids’ games, fun for all ages!  Campus Center/Huden Lawn

11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. - Dunk Tank sponsored by Residence Life. Campus Center Amphitheater.

11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. - Psychic Fair. Sponsored by Student Association Activities Board. Campus Center Informal Lounge.

11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. - Car wash sponsored by Men’s Ice Hockey Team. In front of Ellis Hall. Weather permitting.

11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. - Lunch.  Huden Dining Hall.  Pick up advance reservation tickets at Welcome Tent.  Tickets also on sale at door. Adults $5.75. No charge for children age six and under. No charge for students on meal plan

11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. - Live music featuring “Acoustic Alley.” Huden Lawn. Rain: Huden Dining Hall.

11:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. - 3-D Theater and Virtual Reality Photos. Sponsored by Student Association Activities Board. Campus Center Multipurpose Room.

12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. - Horse-drawn Wagon Rides. Depart from in front of Glenbrook Gymnasium.

12:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. - Boat tour of beautiful Lake Bomoseen.  Advance reservations required.

1:00 p.m.  - Men’s Soccer vs. Lyndon State College

1:00 p.m.  - Women’s Rugby vs. UVM

1:30 p.m.  - Luncheon for Alumni of the Spanish Program. Old Chapel Great Hall.

1:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. - Walking tour of historical Castleton Village.  Departs from Welcome Tent.

2:00 p.m. - Field Hockey vs. Lasell College

2:00 p.m. - Women’s Volleyball vs. Maine Maritime. SHAPE Gymnasium. Enter via rear of Glenbrook.

2:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. - Boat tour of beautiful Lake Bomoseen.  Advance reservations required. 
Please pick up your tickets and driving directions at the WelcomeTent. Please plan to be at the Marina at 2:15 p.m.

10:30 p.m. - Late Night entertainment featuring mentalist Alain Nu. Campus Center Multipurpose Room.

Sunday, September 21

8:00 a.m. - Registration for the 2008 Charity 5K Trail Run/Walk by the Gorge Bridge. The event kicks off at 9:15, with all proceeds will benefit Running Strong for American Indian Youth. You may enter yourself          
or sponsor a Castleton Cross Country runner.
$10 for Castleton students, parents, alumni, faculty, and staff; $15 for general public; includes t-shirt!

8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. - Exhibit: Paintings and Installations by Tom McGlynn. Christine Price Gallery, Fine Arts Center.

8:30 a.m. - 16th Annual Golf Tournament at Lake St. Catherine Country Club in Poultney.  Sponsored by the Castleton baseball team.  Advance reservations requested.  $75 per person; steak lunch and great prizes!

9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. - College Store open. Campus Center.

9:30 a.m. - Outing Club trip to Glen Lake: kayaking or hiking. Meet at the Welcome Tent.

10:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. - Men’s Soccer 50th Anniversary Brunch. President’s Lawn. Reservations required.

10:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. - Brunch. Huden  Dining Hall. Pay at the door ($5.75 per person; no charge for children age six and under; no charge for students on meal plan.)

11:00 a.m.  - Men’s alumni lacrosse
