English Literature Program
If you choose to pursue the major in literature, you will complete 27 credit hours of required English courses beyond general education requirements and 18 credit hours of literature courses within one of three concentrations: world literature, American literature, or children's literature. If you wish to have a teaching career, you may pursue a major in literature while fulfilling the requirements for teaching licensure.

Concentrations
- American Literature
Courses are taught by scholars in the field including courses in poetry, drama, the novel, African American and women writers, literary movements, author's careers, and others.

- Children's Literature
Courses are taught by scholars in the field including 19 th Century Children's Literature, 20 th Century Children's Literature, Art of Children's Book Illustration, Images of the Child, Poetry for Children, Special Topics, Folk Tales, and others.

- World Literature
Students read literature from Ancient Greece, India, China, Japan, the Mideast, Europe, Latin America, and Africa.
