Information and Policies

Add/Drop Information

An add/drop form is required for all schedule changes. No schedule if officially amended until the SSC has received and initialed the form. The student should retain his/her copy as evidence of compliance with the deadlines. During the first two weeks of the semester students can adjust their schedules at no charge and their tuition accounts will reflect the adjustment. If a student is receiving financial aid, adding or dropping courses may cause the student’s eligibility to receive financial aid to change.  It could also affect a student’s athletic eligibility or health insurance if covered by their parent’s policy. The student should contact financial aid to determine the impact of such a change in enrollment.

After the end of the add/drop period, a $15 fee is assessed for each class that is changed, however, there is no adjustment to the student’s tuition account.

To add/drop a course, you must do the following:

1. Fill out an add/drop form (available outside the SSC office).
2. Get it signed by:
a. The instructor(s) involved.
b. Your advisor if you are a matriculated student.
c. The Registrar or Associate Registrar if involves an overload (more than 18 credits).
3. Return it to the SSC.

After the add/drop deadline, the first refund checks are generated. They are held in the Student Service Center for pick-up during normal office hours, Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 4:30 pm. New checks are then issued twice a week (Tuesdays and Fridays after 1pm) and are available for pick-up during normal office hours.  If refunds are not picked up in the Student Service Center within 14 days, a notice is sent to the student’s campus box. If the check is still not retrieved, it will be mailed to the home address.

Student Health Insurance
All full-time matriculated students are required to have insurance. Consolidated Health Plan is our current provider. All full-time students will be billed $1,445 for the year/$940 if you need coverage for the spring semester only. Students must fill out and return a student insurance Selection Card every fall, regardless of whether or not you take the coverage. Once we receive the completed selection card, your account will be adjusted accordingly. If Castleton does not receive the completed selection card by September 15 for the Fall and January 31 for the Spring, you will automatically be enrolled in the plan and the charge to your account will stand.
