Sociology, Social Work, and Criminal Justice The Department of Sociology, Social Work, and Criminal Justice offers programs that study society and culture and work to apply that knowledge as professionals in the real world. Students benefit from the knowledge and experience of faculty in all three disciplines. These caring teachers work closely together to strengthen individual programs and the over all department. Many courses in the department have a key service-learning component in which students apply their growing knowledge to help the community. The research students have conducted has aided the college and the local community. Castleton students from the department are active in the college's Green Campus Initiative and increasing emphasis on sustainability, in the numerous activities of Social Work classes in the community, and in the Public Safety Department.
