3. Goals: Broad statement of teaching focus. Context--how does this unit fit into entire curriculum for the year?

4. Essential questions: key questions that the teacher will address in the study. Identification of the major theme of U.S. as a World power, strands within the theme.

5. Objectives Specific outcomes that reflect both an integrated and cross-curricular approach. Integrates reading, writing,, listening, speaking etc. Cross-curricular approach considers how to connect to other subjects. Measurable Objectives are written as Student will be able to... (Action)

6. Prior knowledge required What do students need to know prior to being able to complete activities> What activities will you have completed prior to this? What is the Unit that will build this prior knowledge?

7. Activities and related teaching moments Should introduce the unit, set expectations and define criteria for outcomes, activities within the strands. A layout of the day to today teaching or lesson by lesson planning including specific explicit min-lessons or lectures.

8. Assessment--specific tools--related to Vermont list of Standards and National Standards--checklists, texts, quizzes, rubrics, anecdotal records etc to measure progress, growth, and outcomes. Guiding questions that the teacher will use to support explicit teaching and that will provide ongoing assessment of student learning. Should include a culminating activity and a reflection by either teacher or students (or both) that examines the evaluation reflection of student and teacher-participants along with what was learned and how it might be transferred to other experiences.

9. Resources List of books, videos, computer programs, artifacts etc that will be essential to completing the unit.

10  Accommodations Major adaptations that will need to be made in order for all students to achieve goals of the unit. This can change depending on the students, the available personnel and the available resoruces. List of strategies e.g. note taking, sketching, brainstorming etc.

11. Appendix  Artifacts, websites, articles, worksheets etc that support the unit--list link to  your  own professonal website if you have developed one.

12. Evaluation Reflection paper by students and teacher (by teacher--what was learned and how it might be transferred to other activities.
