Castleton’s M.A in Theater degree is a 30-credit, one-year, residential graduate program that prepares students for careers as theater artists and is unlike any other in Northern New England.
In preparation for their professional careers, students will have the opportunity to hone their craft in a public forum through the production of three major public performances. Additionally, this collaborative, artistic environment allows students to develop their portfolios through advanced coursework and theater productions. The courses within the program cover history and criticism, research methods, script analysis, theoretical production, and theater practicum.
Through the coursework and hands-on opportunities within the program students will develop advanced competencies in their areas of specialization. These areas of specialization include but are not limited to Acting, Directing, Scene Design, Lighting Design, Costume Design, Stage Management, Arts Management, and Technical Direction. Students will be demonstrate proficiency and be able to make effective artistic judgments and communicate effectively within their area of specialization.
