This course addresses the social emotional aspects of math instruction that can increase engagement and achievement at every level. Participants will learn about math mindsets that encourage all students to be “smart” in math. They will develop strategies for creating cultures of learning in math classes. Participants will design challenging math tasks that are accessible to a wide range of students. The class will collaboratively design a website that can be used as a resource after the course ends.
Increase equity in math classes by designing instructional materials that promote concept development rather than procedural math.
Costs for required readings, if any, are not included in the course tuition.
