Mathematics

The field of mathematics forms an important basis of human knowledge which offers a unique and important way of interpreting the world. Castleton's Department of Mathematics seeks to bring accuracy and rigor to the quest for discovering patters in observations both abstract and concrete. As a mathematics major you will acquire a broad and solid base in mathematics which will enable both further study and application.

Our knowledgable faculty teaches in the realms of pure mathematics, applied mathematics, and statistics and aims to inspire and engage students to appreciate and understand these disciplines. The College's small class sizes will provide you with an individualized learning experience and coursework will allow you to conduct research projects under the guidance of our experienced faculty. As a student you will be encouraged to provide insight to new and existing courses, attend seminars, and to participate in mathematical activities at the local, regional, and national levels.

With a B.S. in Mathematics from Castleton, you will have a wide range opportunities. You will be prepared to pursue a graduate program at the master's or doctoral level, as well as to enter a professional environment.
