Music Education, '12
Alumni Zak Hampton found a home away from home in the Music department at Castleton that would prepare him for his future endeavors. After graduating in 2012 with a BA in Music Education, he currently works as the Instrumental and General Music Teacher for grades K-8 at the Maple Street School in Manchester, Vermont.
Introduced to the program by Glenn Giles, Hampton praised the faculty members within the department who helped him along the way for passing along both their knowledge and passion for music to all they taught.
“Without the fine faculty and mentors I discovered at Castleton I would not be here teaching today,” said Hampton, who still takes two courses per year at Castleton and plans to enroll in the University’s Master of Music Education track in the summer of 2017.
In addition to his degree, Hampton walked away from his Castleton experience with something a little extra, true love. He met his wife while they were both members of the Castleton Marching Band.
“My fondest memory of my time at Castleton is the bonds I had with my professors and the few friends I found, including my wife,” said Hampton. “There is no more inspirational environment than to make and share music in the green mountains.”
