In 2000, the Castleton Alumni Association established the "Senior Class Unity Award." The Alumni Association is committed to contributing to our society's future by transmitting the tradition of leadership to its students, who are tomorrow's citizens and leaders. In 2006 it was renamed the Leonard C. Goldman ('59) Distinguished Senior Award.
This award is presented annually by the Castleton Alumni Association in recognition of a member of the senior class who best exemplifies the qualities of leadership, spirit, and service to the university community and beyond.
A candidate must be enrolled as a senior during the current academic year, working toward their bachelor's degree, and either graduated in December or expected to graduate in May of the current academic year.
Castleton staff, faculty, administration, graduating senior class members or Castleton alumni are eligible to submit a nomination.
The Distinguished Senior Award recipient will be recognized at Commencement and presented with a gift from the Castleton Alumni Association.
Completed nominations must be submitted to the Alumni Office in Woodruff Hall or emailed to Carrie Savage no later than 4 pm on the last Friday in March of the current academic year.
PLEASE NOTE: ALL nominations must be computer-generated or typewritten. (No handwritten nominations).
The selection committee needs a full picture of the candidate's strengths and experiences here at Castleton. Please be sure to include examples to show the true character of the individual you are nominating by being very specific and avoiding generalities.
