Castleton opens up North Atlantic Conference schedule with 4-0 win over Becker  

Leicester, MA -Carolyn Griggs (Lincoln, VT/Mt. Abraham Union) scored a pair of goals early in the first half and Marie Amaral (Barre, VT/Spaulding) scored the first two goals of her career later in the opening half to help the Spartans cruise to victory.

Griggs scored the game winner just a shade over 10 minutes into the game off an assist from Brooke Towslee (Woodford, VT/Mt. Anthony Union). Towslee and Griggs would hook up again just over one minute later for the game's second goal. Amaral struck for a pair of unassisted goals 18 minutes in, and with 45 seconds to go in the first half to round out the scoring.

Michelle DeSantis (So. Plainfield, NJ/So. Plainfield) stopped seven shots on goal for the 0-4 (0-1 NAC) Hawks. Trisha Clark (East Dover, VT/Brattleboro Union) and Jessica Viens (Waterbury, VT/Harwood Union) combined to stop five shots in the shut-out. Castleton's record goes to 2-3 (1-0 NAC), the Spartans are back in action on Wednesday, September 20 when they play host to New England College at 4:00 PM. Becker is off until Tuesday, September 19 when they travel to Salem State College for a 6:00 PM game. [Box Score]
