Castleton drops season finale, eyes NAC Tournament

Keene, NH-The Castleton State College field hockey lost its season finale 4-0 on the road at Keene State. The Spartans wrapped up their most successful season in the programs history with an 11-5 overall record.

Four different players scored in the win

Alyssa Rowell and Carly Benning netted first half goals and Karen Robinson and Megan Moran scored second half goals for the Owls.

Keene State’s first goal came on a corner play at the 11:27 mark.  Erin Dallas fed Rowell who beat Spartan goalie Trisha Clark with a shot to the far corner of the net.

With six minutes to go in the half, Benning scored on her 10th goal of the season on her own rebound to give KSC a 2-0 lead.

Robinson gave KSC a 3-0 with her eighth goal of the season early in the second half.  Moran added a goal later in the half to complete the scoring.

Vikki Stoessel turned aside two shots to notch her second shutout of the season.

Clark finished the game with nine saves for the Spartans.

Keene State (14-5), which extended its winning streak to five games, wraps up its regular season with a home game against UMass-Dartmouth on Saturday.  

Castleton begins NAC tournament play with a quarterfinal home game against Wheelock College at 1:00 pm. [Box Score]
