Castleton gets by Lasell 3-2
Newton, MA – Junior forward Carolyn Griggs scored a pair of goals, including the game winner to lead the Castleton State College field hockey team past Lasell College 3-2 in North Atlantic Conference action.
With the win the Spartans improve to 6-2 overall and 2-0 in conference play.
Griggs got the team on the board eight minutes into the game with a score off from a Kayla Blank penalty corner.
Lasell would answer with five minutes remaining on an unassisted Caitlyn Walker goal. The score would remain tied entering halftime.
Just seven minutes into the second half Blank would take a feed from Trishia Fellows to put the Spartans up 2-1. Just four minutes later the Griggs struck again, this time on an assist from freshman, Courtney Nolan to put Castleton up for good.
The Lasers would tack on a late goal on a penalty stroke, but it would prove to be too little, too late.
Trisha Clark ended up with three saves in the win, and the Castleton defense limited their hosts to just one second half shot. [Box Score]
