Castleton wins second straight, defeats Emerson 12-3

Boston, MA -Castleton won their second consecutive North Atlantic Conference game, this time handling Emerson College 12-3.

The Spartans held a 3-1 edge after the first half, then poured it on in the second half, outscoring their hosts 9-2 for the final 30 minutes.

Steve Gerding led the offense with three goals and two assists, while Robbie Scanlon also sent home three goals. Matt Varney added two goals and three asissts, Matt VanDerKar two goals and one assist, while Josh Davis and Michael Martinex each tallied one goal.

Michael Mamunes earned the win, stopping six shots before giving way to David Manghis with five minutes remaining in the game. Manghis was credited with one save.

Jake Frank led the 2-5 (1-2 NAC) Lions with two goals. Castleton improves to 3-2 overall and 2-0 in the NAC. The team is back in action on March 5 when they travel to Western Connecticut State University for a 4:00 pm face-off. [Game Stats]
