Castleton wins fifth-straight, remains perfect in NAC play with 8-1 win

Castleton, VT-The Castleton State College men's tennis team won its fifth-straight matchand stretched its perfect NAC record to 4-0 with a convincing 8-1 win over Wheelock

Castleton lost in #1 singles, but did not drop another set all day en route to the victory.

Jessee Maranda survived a 7-6 opening set and cruised 6-0 in his second set to win #2 singles. Justin Garritt continues to impress in the number three slot, winning 6-1, 6-3. Jeremy Henderson did not drop a game winning 6-0, 6-0 in #4 singles. Ted Panasci and Jamie Cook rounded out the singles competition with wins in Nos. 5 and 6.

The Spartans swept through the doubles competition as Maranda and Henderson teamed for an 8-5 win in #1 slot. Garritt and Panasci took down #2 doubles 8-0, while Cook and Dan Piliero won #3 doubles 8-3.

The Spartans wrap up their NAC season Sunday with a home match versus Lesley University beginning at 1:00 pm. [Results]
