(September 24, 2007) -On October 14, 2008 the Castleton State College Women’s Volleyball Team will be sponsoring a Dig Pink event as the Spartans take on the Fighting Tigers of SUNY Cobleskill.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This is a time not only to educate, but to raise funds and take part in finding a cure for this terrible disease. This is the primary focus of this event.

Castleton hopes to use a night of fantastic volleyball action in order to help raise funds for this noble cause. The Spartans have set a fundraising goal of $1,000 for this event. These funds along with all of the proceeds from the sale of our special edition pink T-shirts will be donated to the Side-Out Foundation.

Dig Pink is a National Breast Cancer awareness rally that is taking place throughout the month of October 2008. High Schools and Colleges are hosting Dig Pink matches all across the country to help educate and raise funds to help fight breast cancer. Wear something PINK and show your support!!!

The Side-Out Foundation (Side-Out) was established in 2004 by a group of individuals drawn together by their love of volleyball, but who also share a similar passion to be a part of the war against breast cancer.

Side-Out’s mission is to raise money for the war against breast cancer through the recreational activity of volleyball.

The Side-Out Foundation is a Virginia based 501 (c)3 Non-Profit organization with a serving Board of Directors and advisors from the healthcare sector to provide oversight and guidance regarding the strategic direction and recommended allocation of donations and grants.

All Proceeds from the sale of Dig Pink t-shirts will go to the Side-Out Foundation. T-shirts may be purchased from any team member or from Coach Bethany Torrice 135 Castleton Hall.
