Castleton falls to Manhattanville 4-0

Castleton, VT-Manhattanville goalie Sophia Kokkonis gave a shut out performance as the Valiants defeated the Spartans 4-0 in an ECAC game Friday night. Kokkonis finished with 14 saves to lead the defensive effort for Manhattanville. The Valiants were led offensively by Amanda Nonis, who scored two third period goals.

Natalie Zitek got the Valiants on the board in the first period with a late goal in the period. Danielle Mazurek contributed with a second period goal. Rachel Dunn got the start in net and had 21 stops on 23 shots. Kalla Robb also saw some time minding the goal, stopping 35 of 37 shots.

Castleton falls to 5-18 and 2-16 in ECAC action. The Spartans look to end their home schedule on a high note Saturday when they host Salve Regina at 3:00 pm. Manhattanville improves to 16-6-1 and 14-4 in conference play with the victory. The Valiants travel to St. Michael’s tomorrow for a 3:00 pm start. [Box Score]
