Coach Torrice enters her first season as head coach of the Castleton women in 2008-09. Torrice, a 2005 graduate of Utica College, was most recently an assistant coach for the State University of New York at Oswego. While at Utica, Torrice was a member of the first-ever women’s hockey team in 2001. She finished her playing career ranked eighth in career scoring and played in 96 games over four seasons. She was a team captain and earned ECAC Women's West All-Academic recognition multiple times.

Prior to moving back to her native Oswego, Torrice spent one season at the State University of New York at Cortland as an assistant coach. While at Cortland and Oswego Torrice was involved in all aspects of recruiting, fundraising, on-ice instruction, and strength and conditioning for the respective teams. 

Torrice inherits a Castleton team that was 5-16-4 overall last season and 4-11-4 in the ECAC East, earning a spot in the conference tournament. Ten of Castleton’s losses were by two goals or less, and the Spartans were outscored 16-2 in the pivotal second period of those losses. With a strong nucleus returning, including the top three scorers from last season, Torrice looks to bring a more consistent and exciting brand of hockey to Castleton.
