Castleton falls in regular-season finale 18-5 to Keene State.

Castleton, VT-The Castleton State College women’s lacrosse team lost their regular season finale 18-5 to a tough Keene State College squad.

The Owls raced out to a 10-2 halftime lead and never looked back, out-shooting their hosts 45-9.

Melissa Stopera led Keene State with four goals and one assist of the bench. Meagan Moran and Lanaya Nelson each had three goals and two assists for the 6-5 Owls.

Freshmen Stephanie Pearce and Nicole Adams provided all of Castleton’s offense. Pearce tallied three goals and Adams two.

Meredith Pope was tested all day and made 17 saves for the 6-5 Spartans.

Samantha Martella and Dene Tully each scored a pair of goals for Keene State, who wraps up their regular season at home versus Southern Maine.

Castleton will travel to Worcester State on Saturday for a 2:00 pm NEWLA semifinal game. [Game Stats]
