Bouchard sets career goal scoring mark in 20-9 Castleton win
Castleton, VT-Nicole Bouchard scored five goals and had one assist to lead Castleton State College to a 20-9 win over St. Joseph’s College (Me.) in non-conference women’s lacrosse action.
Bouchard became the all-time leader in goals scored in Castleton history with 108, surpassing Meghan Carey’s mark of 106 set in 2003. The senior also holds the career mark for total points with 145.
Castleton took an 11-5 lead into halftime and opened the second half with a 6-0 run over the first eight minutes of play to put the game away.
St. Joseph net-minder, Chynna Nicholas was outstanding all day for the Monks, turning away 17 shots, including 13 in the first half.
Alyssa Marchant led the 5-8 Monks with four goals, while Vanessa Brooks added three and Lauren Hagerman two goals and one assist.
Freshman, Marie VanDerKar matched Bouchard’s six-point output with five goals and one assist to go along with six draw controls and two caused turnovers.
The Spartan defense keyed transition all afternoon, as Katelyn Greene caused three turnovers and corralled six ground balsl to lead the way. Trisha Clark played a huge part in the defense as well causing three turnovers and grabbing five ground balls.
Stephanie Pearce and Nicole Adams each scored three goals and handed out one assist as Castleton improves to 9-6 overall.
Castleton will take on Worcester State College on Wednesday afternoon in New England Women’s Lacrosse semifinal action. Game time is still to be determined. [Game Stats]
