Stala, Ledoux power Castleton to 6-0 win over Becker

Castleton, VT-Tracy Stala and Ashley Ledoux each scored twice to lead the Castleton State College women’s soccer team to a 6-0 win over NAC foe, Becker College. The win improves Castleton’s record to 9-6 overall with a 6-1 mark in conference play.

The Spartans controlled play from the outset firing 20 first-half shots, en route to 36 on the day. Senior Stefanie Reuter opened the scoring in the 7th minute when she converted a Carisa Chadburn serve into a one touch goal. Just over four minutes later Stala would score her fifth goal of the season after a scramble in front that took Becker keeper, Caitlin Faunce away from the net. Stala would take a pass from Caitlin Lewis and finish in the open net.

Faunce was tested all day and finished the game with 16 saves. With the loss Becker falls to 0-12-2 (0-7-1 NAC).

Julianna Dorsey closed out the first half scoring with her third goal of the season, assisted by Reuter.

Ledoux would tack on both of her goals in the second half, and Stala would tack one on for good measure with just over one minute remaining.

Both teams return to action tomorrow afternoon at 1:00 pm. Castleton plays host to Lesley University while Becker travels to Johnson State. [Box Score]
