Stala breaks out for three goals, Castleton rolls past Lyndon State 5-0

Castleton, VT-Tracy Stala tallied three goals and had one assist as the Castleton State College women’s soccer team rolled to a 5-0 non-conference victory over Lyndon State College.

With the win Castleton improves to 8-5 on the season, while Lyndon State falls to 4-7.

Ashley Ledoux scored her fourth goal of the season to start things off for Castleton just 8:44 into the game when Stala fed her with a cross. Ledoux would return the favor on two out of Stala’s three goals as the Spartans controlled play for much of the game.

The Spartans out-shot their guests 24-6 in winning their third consecutive match.

Hornet goal keeper, Angelina Phelps stopped 10 shots and allowed three goals before being pulled in the 71st minute. Cara Dolan was credited with a pair of saves and two goals against in her 19 minutes of work.

Kristin Mulholland tacked on Castleton’s final insurance goal when she put home a rebound in the 89th minute of play.

Spartan keepers Micole Bellimer, Nakita Baldic and Cady Kerin all saw action and combined for three assists.

Castleton returns to action on Thursday when they travel to Plymouth State for a 5:00 non-conference game. Lyndon State returns home on Saturday to host Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts at 1:00 pm. [Box Score]
