Castleton falls to Skidmore 3-0 on the road
Saratoga Springs, N.Y. – The Castleton State College women's soccer team was blanked 3-0 on the road by a tough Skidmore College team. The loss drops the Spartans to an even 5-5, while Skidmore improves to 4-3-2
Skidmore started the action off quickly when freshman Erin Donnellan took a cross from Anna Cerio that found
the left side of the net past Spartan keeper Cady Kerin at
11:44.
The Thoroughbreds would strike again when junior Rachel Sushner
would score her fourth goal of the season when she
punched one in from the right side of the goalkeeper box making the
score 2-0 at 62:00.
Junior Laura Flynn made it 3-0 when she scored midway
through the second half after she took a ball from 10 feet out and a
bullet shot through a Castleton defender that got past a diving Kerin
at 67:25.
Skidmore held 25-0 shot advantage throughout the contest. Kerin was
credited with 13 saves for the Spartans.
The Thoroughbreds will be in action on Sept. 29th when they take on
Ithaca College at 1pm on Wachenheim Field. The Spartans will host Elms College at 3:00 pm on Saturday as part of Castleton's Alumni/Homecoming Weekend. [Box Score]
