St. Michael’s stymies Castleton 4-0 at home
Castleton, VT – The St. Michael’s College women’s soccer team received four goals from four different players en route to its fourth win of the season.
Laura Wesley opened the scoring just under 13 minutes into the game as she headed in a crossing pass from Katie Burdett for her third goal of the year.
Castleton’s starting keeper, Micole Bellimer made three saves before being pulled in the 31st minute. Nakita Baldic would finish the half, and keep the Spartans within striking distance.
In the second half, junior midfielder, Kelley Ruch scored her third goal of the season off a Sky Bryan assist to make the game 2-0. Baldic would be pulled in the 58th minute after recording six saves and allowing just the one goal.
The Purple Knights would tack on two more goals, one from freshman Carissa Gildea, her seventh of the season, and one from Laura Anacone to close out the scoring.
Castleton’s third keeper, Cady Kerin, allowed the final two goals while recording two saves.
St. Mike’s starting keeper, Molly Cole recorded just one save in the first half to record the win. Cole was relieved in the second half by Gillian Goldman, who was untested by the Spartan offense.
The Purple Knights take on conference foe, Stonehill on the road Saturday at 1:00 pm. Castleton is also in conference on the road this weekend, taking on Wheelock Saturday at 3:00 and Bay Path Sunday at 1:00. [Box Score]
