Castleton falls to tough Plymouth State team 9-0
Plymouth, NH-Plymouth State University had little trouble defeating Castleton State College in a non-conference women’s tennis match Tuesday afternoon, blanking the Spartans, 9-0, at the P.E. Center Courts.
PSU won all three doubles matches in decisive fashion, and swept all six singles matches in straight sets. PSU won for the fourth consecutive match, improving to 4-2 overall, while Castleton State had its three-match winning streak stopped and falls to 4-4 overall.
Four Panthers were double winners on the afternoon, led by junior Jill Deyermond (Atkinson, N.H.), who was victorious at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles. Senior Erica Huckins (Holderness, N.H.) paired with Deyermond for the doubles win and took her match at No. 3 singles. Sophomore Meghan Rodier (Francestown, N.H.) and junior Joan Kietzman (Plymouth, N.H.) teamed up for a triumph at No. 2 doubles, with Rodier also winning at No. 2 singles and Kietzman taking the No. 5 singles match.
PSU’s other winners were senior Kiley Boyd (Brattleboro, Vt.) at No. 4 singles, junior Briley Boisvert (Goffstown, N.H.) at No. 6 singles, and the duo of senior Brittany Campbell (Newport, R.I.) and freshman Amanda Arponen (Plymouth, Mass.) at No. 3 doubles.
PSU is back in action Saturday with a Little East Conference match at UMass Boston (1:00 p.m.) Castleton State visits Plattsburgh State on Saturday for another non-conference match (1:00 p.m.) [Complete Results]
