Castleton defeats Mass.-Liberal Arts 9-0

Castleton, VT-The Castleton State College women’s tennis team shut-out the visiting Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts Trailblazers 9-0, dropping just one set throughout the entire match.

Castleton’s Kim Allen and Jamie Olson combined for an 8-0 win in #1 doubles, likewise for Charla Klaas and Emily Hallet in #2 doubles. Courtney Gosselin and Ashley Whitehouse teamed up to win #3 doubles 8-2.

In singles action, Klaas took down the #1 slot 6-2, 6-1. Olson took home #2 singles 6-1, 6-0, while Allen won #3 6-0, 6-1. In #4 singles action Emily Hallett avenged an early season loss to MCLA with a hard-fought 2-6, 6-1, 10-8 win. Mary Kay Capone and Meg Kuczynski-Sherwin remain undefeated in #5 and #6 respectively winning their matches 6-0, 6-0 and 6-1, 6-3.

With the win Castleton improves to 5-2 while the Tailblazers fall to 0-6. The Spartans return to action on Friday when they play host to Lyndon State. At 3:30 pm. [Results]
