Castleton wins third straight, 6-3 over Plymouth State

Castleton, VT-The Castleton State College women's tennis team defeated Plymouth State university for the first time since 2000, earning a 6-3 non-conference victory.

The Spartans swept all three doubles competitions to set the tone for the home win.

Jamie Olson and Kim Allen took #1 doubles honors with a 8-0 win. Charla Klaas and Emily Hallett teamed to win a back-and-forth #2 doubles match 9-7, while Mary Kay Capone and Courtney Gosselin won #3 doubles 8-2.

Allen won #3 singles in straight sets, without dropping a game 6-0, 6-0. Capone took home #5 singles, again 6-0, 6-0, while Meg Kuczynski-Sherwin won #6 singles 6-1, 6-0.

Perhaps the most exciting match of the night took place in #2 singles, when Jamie Olson battled back after being down a set to force a third and deciding set. Olson would end up losing the final set 10-6.

With the win Castleton improves to 4-1 and will take on Bay Path College at 1:00 pm on homecoming Sunday. [Results]
