Castleton stretches win-streak to six matches with 9-0 win at Johnson State
Johnson, VT-The Castleton State College women's tennis team won its sixth-consecutive match, this time defeating conference foe Johnson State 9-0.
Michelle Podnecky won her sixth-straight #1 singles match to open her career, downing Chelsie O'Connell 6-4, 6-0. Kate Bucci won #2 singles 6-1, 6-0 and has also started her Castleton career with six-straight singles victories. Mary Kay Capone won #3 singles 6-1, 6-1. Capone has won 14-straight singles matches dating back to last season when she went 9-0. Brittni Racine (6-1, 6-1), Morgan Reuter (6-0, 6-1) and Emily Bisson (6-1, 6-0) rounded out the singles competition with wins in #4-6.
In doubles action Podnecky and Bucci teamed for an 8-0 win in #1, while Capone and Racine won #2 8-1 and Reuter and Bisson took home #3 8-0.
The Spartans are back in action on September 23 when they travel to Plymouth State for a 3:30 pm non-conference match. [Results]
