Castleton rolls to fifth-straight win, 8-1 over Lyndon State
Castleton, VT-The Castleton State College women's tennis team won its fifth-consecutive match, this time defeating conference foe Lyndon State 8-1.
Michelle Podnecky continued her torrid start to her career, winning #1 singles in straight-sets, 6-1, 6-4 over Sue Promphong. Charla Klaas once again took #2 singles, defeating Jennifer Falsetti 7-5, 6-0 whiel Kate Bucci was a 6-0, 6-3 winner in #3 singles. Emily Hallett nearly came back from losing the first set of #4 singles, but ended up falling 6-2, 2-6, 10-5. Mary Kay Capone (opponenet retired) and Brittni Racine (6-0, 6-0) rounded out the singles competition.
In doubles it was Podnecky and Bucci teaming for a win in the number one slot, 8-2. Klaas and Hallett teamed for yet another win in #2 doubles, 8-2. Racine and Capone tamed for a 8-0 win in #3 doubles.
Klaas and Hallett are a very impressive 14-1 in regular-season doubles action, dating back to last season.
Castleton is back in action on September 17 when the Spartans travel to Johnson State College for a 4:00 pm match. [Results]
