Castleton remains undefeated with 7-2 win at Plymouth State
Plymouth, NH-The Castleton State College women's tennis team remained undefeated on the season Tuesday afternoon with a 7-2 non-conference victory over Plymouth State University.
Freshmen Michelle Podnecky and Kate Bucci remained perfect on the season, teaming up for a win at No. 1 doubles and taking the No. 1 and No. 3 singles matches, respectively. Podnecky and Bucci are both 7-0 on the season in both singles and doubles. Plymouth State nearly put an end to their unbeaten streak in doubles, but the duo rallied for a 9-7 win.
Sophomore Mary Kay Capone also kept her undefeated mark intact for the Spartans, winning at No. 5 singles to improve to 6-0 and teaming with classmate Brittni Racine for a victory at No. 3 doubles. Junior Charla Klaas was also a double-winner for Castleton, winning in straight sets at No. 2 singles and earning a victory at No. 2 doubles with her partner, senior Emily Hallett.
The Spartans are back on the court Sunday at Bay Path College in Longmeadow, Massachusetts. [Results]
