Paramount Theatre
Join The Castleton Polling Institute and Paramount Theatre for a delightful and educational evening focusing upon political primaries and their fascinating history on the same evening as the New Hampshire primary. Upon entering the Paramount, patrons will have the opportunity to cast a vote for candidates in either party in the mock Vermont primary. The audience will then be treated to a screening of the legendary documentary “Primary,” which made history by chronicling the hotly contested 1960 general election between Richard Nixon and John F. Kennedy. Following the short film, Castleton faculty members will present recent polling data from Rutland County as well as the results from the evening’s mock primary vote. Vermont State Senator Anthony Pollina will then provide the audience with his reasons for drafting legislation that would make the official Vermont primary earlier in the campaign cycle, and the evening will conclude by joining the live broadcast of New Hampshire primary results as they come in. A truly fascinating and diverse night of politics in action!
