Spring 2023 Registration
Registration Dates
- Seniors (90+ earned credits) and Graduate Students: Starting October 31
- Seniors (90+ earned credits): Starting October 31
- Juniors (60+ earned credits): Starting November 1
- Sophomores (30+ earned credits): Starting November 2
- First-Year (15-29 earned credits): Starting November 3
- First-Year (Fewer than 15 earned credits): Starting November 4
- VSCS Students: Starting November 28
- Non-Matriculated Students: Starting December 5
Students are encouraged to register as soon as possible for the best course selection.
How to Register
Matriculated students Register Online through Self-Service.
- See your advisor(s) prior to your registration date to consult with them about your course schedule.
- Ask your advisor(s) to grant you approval to register online.
- Students registering online may register beginning at midnight on their registration date. Your registration date will appear once you add the CU Spring 2023 term to your plan.
Graduate students are encouraged to register early to ensure adequate enrollment in courses. Special payment options may be available for graduate students. Please check with Financial & Registration Services for more details.
All students should consult the University Catalog for other pertinent information. The student is responsible for meeting degree requirements and any other University regulations.
Non-matriculated students may fill out the Non-Matriculated Student Registration Form and submit it to Financial and Registration Services through email or in-person Monday-Friday 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
Add/Drop Dates
Students must be matriculated in a degree program, have approval from their advisor to register online, and have no holds (financial, medical, or academic) on their account to make changes to their schedule through Self-Service/Student Planning.
- Students may add open full-semester courses through January 23rd. From January 24th-January 31st, students will need the instructor's permission.
- Students may drop Castleton courses online through March 20th. Courses dropped by January 31st will not appear on the student's transcript.
- Students may continue to drop full-semester courses online through March 31st. Courses dropped after January 31st will show on the Castleton transcript with a grade of “W.” The student's bill will not be adjusted after January 31st to reflect any dropped courses.
- Add/drop dates may be different for courses taken at other VSCS institutions including Community College of Vermont (CCV), Northern Vermont University (NVU), and Vermont Technical College (VTC).
- Courses that meet in a 7 or 8-week format (“X” or “Y”) have different add/drop dates. Open “X” courses can be added through January 23rd and dropped through January 31st. Open “Y” courses can be added through March 20th and dropped through March 27th.
- Graduate courses with non-standard dates may have different add/drop dates.
After these dates, any changes must be made in Financial & Registration Services.
Non-matriculated students should contact Financial & Registration Services to drop a class.
Note: Financial & Registration Services will be closed for Martin Luther King Day on Monday, January 16th.
