The architecture of Castleton, Vermont
If you were to take this tour on foot, you should begin at the Hope House in the middle of the Castleton State College campus (you’d have to make about a third of a mile detour to the south to see Thomas Dake’s home), walk north on South Street, go right on Main Street traveling mostly--but not exclusively--on the south side of the street, cross to the north side of Main Street after seeing the Higley House and head back to the west. Then finally turn left on Seminary Street to visit the college’s Old Chapel. Unless otherwise indicated, all Castleton houses are on Main Street.
