Harris-Ward House, side detail. Notice the light, airy treatment of the gable-end. Compare this to the Mallory-Hackel-Waugneux House. Appreciate, too, the care Dake gave to the decorations above the side windows and door. Many house builders would skimp here, but not Dake. This side of the Harris-Ward House also contains the only mistake I can find in Dake’s work. You won’t be able to spot it in the screen image, but look for it if you visit the house in person. Hint: it’s near the roof line.
