Town offices, 1815 & 1834. Today’s town offices are actually two separate buildings, built at different times, and now joined. They housed many different commercial establishments over the years, including Buell’s Hat and Cap Store and a bank. Castleton’s commercial district was once much larger than it is today. Two tragic fires, one in 1913 and another in 1917, destroyed much of the center of town, including its multi-story hotel.
