Karen Klami has been a Part-Time Faculty member at Castleton University since 2004, teaching in the Theater Arts Department. Working closely with the incredible variety of great students that attend Castleton has allowed her to enjoy her years in both teaching and being an unofficial mentor to those in her classes.

In addition to teaching, as a writer, Klami has had several original plays produced and read over the years in New York City and Vermont. She has seven books in print and as kindle/e-books, which include full length plays, screenplays, a collection of short plays and a book of poetry.

Klami has worked closely with students on their own original projects in independent studies and through a play reading series she created at Castleton, and she hopes to do that more in the future. Encouraging students in their creativity and originality, while producing a professional piece of art, is high on her list of exciting, important and worthwhile endeavors.

Klami has been working on her Masters in Education, specializing in English as a Second Language, planning to finish in December 2016. She has received a Cambridge University CELTA Certification as part of her ESL training. She has a great interest in working with the foreign students attending Castleton and is very happy to have the qualifications to best serve their needs.

In addition to teaching at the college level, she has worked with adults and children in several capacities, such as managing a theatre school as owner and director, and running her own businesses with several employees.
