Goal: To introduce educators to a practice generally described as

media literacy or education defined by the Canadian Media Literacy

Public School Mandate as "the ability to access, analyze, evaluate and

produce communication in a variety of forms."

Objectives:

1. To identify who is communicating and what is their motive.

2. To understand the types of text and the difference between these

typologies

3. To understand how media texts are produced

4. To understand media language

5. To identify media audiences and how they understand media

messages

6. To analyze how media represents its subjects

7. To explore ways to introduce the above objectives into the

teaching and learning practices of teachers and students
