  Marc Whitman earned the Bachelor of Music in Music Education from the University of Massachusetts and the Master of Music degree in Percussion Performance from Ithaca College. He has studied percussion with Gordon Stout, John Tafoya, Peter Tanner, and Thom Hannum. Currently director of bands at Rutland High School in Rutland, VT, Whitman is in demand as a freelance percussionist and instructor throughout the New England/New York region. In addition, he is Past-President of the Green Mountain Music District V consortium and President-Elect of the Vermont Music Educators' Association. Recent honors include the National Symphony Orchestra Teacher Fellow in 2000 and the 2001 Outstanding New Music Educator of the Year for the State of Vermont. Professor Whitman is currently teaching Applied Percussion. |
