Peter Miller is the Coordinator stringed instrument and orchestra program for the Rutland Public Schools for many years. He has directed public and private school string and orchestra programs for more than 20 years in Massachusetts and Colorado. These groups have toured in the USA as well as Canada, Great Britain and Bermuda. He has been a frequent clinician, lecturer, conductor, panelist and adjudicator for regional, state and national festivals, conferences and classes.

Miller has served as President of the National School Orchestra Association (NSOA), and co-chaired the ASTA (American String Teachers Association) with NSOA Committee on School Orchestras and Strings. He oversaw the national unification of ASTA and NSOA and is the current president of the Vermont chapter of ASTA with NSOA. He has been a Consulting Editor for American String Teacher, and is a frequent contributor to professional journals. Miller was the Musical Director and Principal Conductor of the Lakes Region Youth Orchestra, the co-founder and Director of the Cape Cod Youth Orchestra, the Music Director of the Cape Cod Ballet Society Orchestra, and a violinist in the Cape Cod Symphony Orchestra for 18 years.

He has been recognized as an Outstanding Arts Educator by the Massachusetts Alliance for Arts Education and has received an NSOA Distinguished Service Award, and is included in national and international Who's Who for Music and Musicians as well as the Who’s Who in Education.
