Student members of the Castleton American Choral Directors Association Club and National Chapter recently attended the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) Eastern Division Conference in Pittsburgh, PA. Attending students participated in a variety of workshops, lectures, and conducting masterclasses throughout the three-day conference, as well as attended concerts with choirs from all around the United States and abroad.
Highlights from this year's conference included an open a cappella masterclass given by the Swingle Singers, concerts by professional ensembles Tenebrae and New York Polyphony, and a keynote address by award-winning conductor Joseph Flummerfelt.
"The ACDA conference is one of the highlights of my year, and gives college students, as well as educators, the opportunity to learn and come together over vocal music," said Castleton senior Music major Saige King, adding that during exhibiting hours students took turns staffing a Castleton Music Department recruitment booth. "I look forward to this conference every year because it gives me a chance to travel, and also gives me more opportunities to grow as an educator and vocalist."
