Castleton Polling Institute Manager Christopher Becker was recently recognized for his work with the institute, receiving the 2015 Burns “Bud” Roper Fellow Award from the American Association for Public Opinion Research.
Recipients of this highly competitive award must be nominated by a member of the AAPOR for their demonstration of responsibilities related to survey research or public opinion and must have recently started their careers.
“I was thrilled,” said Becker, whose daily responsibilities include survey planning, preparing polling materials, and supervising callers.
Political Science Professor and Director of the Polling Institute Rich Clark has enjoyed working with Becker, who took over as Operations Manager in March and believes he will continue to help move the program forward.
“I hope he’s with us for quite a while, with hopes of improving the polling institute even more,” Clark said. “To us the most important thing is quality, not necessarily quantity. Vermont deserves the best research money can buy and we hope to do that.”
Becker will be honored for his award in May at the 70th Annual AAPOR Conference in Hollywood, Florida. He marks the second Castleton employee to receive an AAROP award and is honored to have reached this milestone accomplishment and be recognized on a national level.
“My position with the Polling Institute has been great,” said Becker, “I am eager for future projects that lie ahead.”
