Access Services Librarian Ginger Johnston, was honored as the Employee of the Semester for Fall 2014 at a reception in the Calvin Coolidge Library Lounge in front of numerous friends and colleagues.
After nearly 20 years of dedication to Castleton, Ginger was recognized for her devotion to students and overall library organization, along with her desire to always make her department, and the college, a better place.
Having worked closely together in the library, Sandy Duling expressed her appreciation and respect for Ginger’s strong work ethic.
“Over the years, Ginger has supervised hundreds of student employees. She isn’t just a boss. She becomes a mentor and guide and even a mother-away-from-home, for many,” Duling said. “Each year, she molds a diverse group of anxious first-year students into a well-trained and well-oiled team of competent employees. She has a firm but patient way of bringing out the best in everyone with whom she works-students, staff, faculty, and library guests. Nothing makes her happier or prouder than a student employee's creative solution to a problem, or a streamlined approach to a library task.”
Ginger’s enthusiasm for her job and compassion for all those she comes into contact with make her and exemplary figure of the Castleton community.
