Castleton Public Safety Officers Brad Adair and Gus Austin took to Keene, New Hampshire this past fall to attend the non-sworn Campus Public Safety Officer Academy. The weeklong training course, completed by all full-time Castleton Public Safety Officers, highlighted field techniques in report writing, investigation and community patrolling.
“It gives them a formal background of their positions and teaches them about things they need to know while on the job,” said Director of Public Safety Keith Molinari.
With 6 current full-time offices, Molinari added that while the training is not mandatory for campus officer in the state, Castleton Public Safety Officers opt to all complete the course along with other additional trainings throughout the year.
Adair and Austin mark the final two full-time officers to take the course at Castleton, assuring a fully training and prepared safety staff on campus.
“They put their skills to work daily here,” said Molinari, “Everything we learn at the academy we bring back to campus and implement.”
