On Friday, August 11 Castleton University Athletics hosted the 11th annual Castleton Classic at Rutland Country Club. With the support of 30 sponsors and 120 players the event raised more than $60,000 for Castleton University Athletics.
“The Castleton University annual golf tournament was a day filled with competition and fun, ending in a night of great food and laughter,” said Associate Dean for Athletics and Recreation Deanna Tyson. “We are very thankful to our sponsors who made this event such a huge success.”
All proceeds from the event helps to outfit Castleton’s 28 NCAA varsity sports teams and allows nearly 700 student-athletes to continue pursuing their passions while receiving the quality education that Castleton provides.
“Although there were many ‘fores!’ heard throughout the day on the course the scores were competitive and the winners were delighted with their team trophies,” Tyson said.
At the end of 18, The Graphic Edge sponsored team of Kyle Massie, Brian Hill, Dale Patterson, and Marc Lambert claimed the Casella Inc. Trophy as Gross Champions and Castleton’s President Dave Wolk, Tim Barrett, Gary Ladabouche, and Ron Cioffi took home the Wilk Paving Inc. Trophy as Net Champions. Tyler White and Kayla Russo claimed the men’s and women’s longest drive, respectively, and Dan Cole won the closest to the pin contest.
Registration for the 12th Annual Castleton Classic will open in spring 2018.
