Fellow faculty members, students and, President Dave Wolk joined Professor of Biology, Peter Kimmel as he presented on the study of development during his Vermont State College Faculty Fellow celebration on Wednesday.
Professor Kimmel was recently named the VSC Faculty Fellow, an award given each semester by the Vermont State College Board of Trustees. The Fellowship honors tenured faculty who show outstanding accomplishments in teaching and learning.
Before the presentation President Wolk raved of Kimmel’s many achievements at Castleton. Celebrating over 20 distinguished years with the university, President Wolk gave testimony to his exceptional teaching abilities and years of exemplary service.
“We greatly appreciate all that he has done here at Castleton and his continued dedication to his students,” said President Wolk. “It’s been an honor.”
Kimmel’s lecture, There is No ‘I’ in ‘Embryo’: What the Study of Development Says About Us, focused on the various theories of human development. The presentation included insight into the topics of developmental biology, embryo growth, and developmental abnormalities.
The self-proclaimed "duck guy," Kimmel ended the presentation true to character, with a slide of baby ducklings to the delight of everyone in attendance.
