Transformational Leadership for the Early Years is an experiential course that draws heavily on the skills and expertise of participants and community experts. It is part of the effort to transform systems in Vermont to be more just, equitable, comprehensive, and effective. It is practice and documentation intensive. Each student - in consultation with the instructors- will tweak the syllabus to meet their individual learning needs.
Four aspects of transformation will be studied and practiced in depth:
Personal, Organizational, Community, and Public Policy
Participants - working as individuals or in groups - will complete four change projects: A major project in the domain that most resonates with them (for example helping to revamp their program or school’s curriculum to promote equity) and three smaller change projects, one in each of the other domains (for example beginning a daily meditation practice).
